Rio Epic offers countless miles of float fishing in southwest Colorado and on the legendary San Juan below Navajo Dam. Amazing floats chasing trophy brown and rainbows on the Rio Grande, San Juan, Animas, Upper Juan, Dolores as well as cold and warm water species on our regional lakes. From experienced anglers to rookies alike, we have a float for you or your group.

Rio Grande

The best dry fly float fishing in the West

The Rio Grande is a gem and float fishing is the best way to experience it. There are not many western rivers that compare. Mega hatches and lots of trout to the fly. Epic dry fly fishing.

San Juan

Year-roud float trips for trophy trout

The San Juan is a year-round float fishery and one of the best in the West. The San Juan Quality Waters and the lower sections are a must fish when in the Southwest.

The Animas offers miles of floatable waters through public and private waters near and through Durango Colorado. Fantastic fishery for anglers of all abilities.

Upper Juan

Epic float fishing

The upper San Juan is a special float trip that covers 13 amazing miles through a wild canyon. This trip starts close to Pagosa Springs. The window to float is limited due to low flows.

Season: April - June

Dolores

Stunning, plain and simple

The Dolores canyon is simply amazing. The canyon is full of wildlife, wild trout and stunning scenery. A special float to say the least. This fishery is also limited due to flows.

Electra Lake 

Trophy trout minutes from Durango

Electra lake is semi-private lake with limited public access. The lake grows very consisitent large trout. Cutbows, rainbows, browns, brookies and tigers. This is fast becoming a guide favorite.

Pike, trout and smallies

We offer floats as well as wade trips to fish the banks, inlets and shallow flats. Anglers have a chance to lock in on a mega pike in the 20+ pond range. Plus lots of trout and funn smallmouth bass.

Stunning; plain and simple

Haviland Lake, Molas Lake to name a couple offer guests the perfect place to float still-waters in pursuit of rainbows, cut-bows, brookies and cutthroat trout.

Navajo Lake

Trout, pike, bass and carp

Navajo Reservior stretches over both Colorado and New Mexico. It is home to monster trout, but best known for large bass (both large and small mouth) as well as pike and carp.

Rio Grande, Upper Juan & Dolores

   Full Day (sorry no 1/2 days)

  • $725 single angler

  • $825 two anglers

Electra Lake 

   Full Day (sorry no 1/2 days)

  • $525 single angler

  • $625 two anglers

(Electra Lake entry fees are NOT included.

Monster Hunts - Night Floats

   6 Hours ( 7pm to 1AM )

  • $700 one/two anglers

(Prepayment discount: $100 off each trip/day

booked on the Rio, Upper Juan or Dolores)

Float trip rates on our two person trips is NOT per angler, it is for both. Extended 1/2 day trips are available for $50.

Not included: $50 for taxes/fees, fishing license & gratuity for your guide.

what is included

Your professional Rio Epic guide, flies (including top secret ones) as well as terminal tackle and gear are all included. Guides will offer a yummy streamside lunch, snacks and drinks. Your Epic guide will also have water on hand to top-off client's personal water bottles.

 

Need to borrow a fly rod/reel or waders & boots?

No problem, they are included at no extra cost.

There is an additional charge of $50 (taxes/fees). Customary gratuity for your guide as well as a valid Colorado or New Mexico fishing license are also not included. Some trips on private waters have additional fees and will be discussed when booking the trip or with your guide.
